Gerald Gordon, MD, FACP

Gerald Gordon, MD, FACP, is an infectious diseases physician and internist who has been practicing in Aiken for the past 30 years. Dr. Gordon is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and he has been elected to Best Top Doctors in America and Top Doctors by Castle Connolly for more than 15 years. He earned the Lifetime Achievement Award from the South Carolina Infectious Diseases Society in 2025.

Dr. Gordon earned his medical degree at the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York, NY. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases Medicine at the University of Chicago. During his fellowships, he was the recipient of several awards, including an Infectious Diseases Training Grant, Genetics and Regulation Training Grant, and the NIH Fellowship National Research Service Award. He also received the Geisinger Foundation Award from 1983 to 1985.

Over the course of his career, Dr. Gordon has held faculty positions at the University of Chicago, Hershey Medical Center, Thomas Jefferson University, and Bucknell University. He has been recognized by the NCQA for treatment of diabetes, stroke, and heart disease. He has been published in many medical journals, and he has served on several hospital committees as well as on the Ben Franklin Foundation Study Section Research Review Board.

He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the American Medical Association, Infectious Diseases Society of America, and South Carolina Infectious Diseases Society. He served as President of the South Carolina Infectious Diseases Society from 2001 to 2003.

When not in clinic, Dr. Gordon enjoys spending time with his wife, Laura, their three children, and their grandchildren. He enjoys a wide variety of hobbies, including fly fishing and fly tying, gardening, woodworking, golf, and photography.
